2011-2012

    March 10 2012
  • The word from the field is that the Massie Hills trails were groomed this morning and in decent shape. There were quite a few branches and twigs brought down by the wind but the trails are otherwise good.
  • I sorry to report that due to the recent warm spell there is not enough snow to groom at the Massie Hills Trails. As the weather prediction is for more warm wet weather in the coming weeks we have decided to put the grooming equipment away for the season while there is still enough snow to safely pull it out. Thank you to the ski club membership for your continued patronage and a special thank you to the grooming crew for helping us make the most of what little snow we received this season. There were some great days but just not enough of them.

  • This is more like it! The word from the trail grooming crew is that the trails will all be groomed by 12:30 and are in great shape.

  • The trail was groomed this morning and is in good shape. The trail received two inches of fresh powder overnight and the trails should be fairly fast.

  • Lots of new snow today!!!

  • Finally, a bit of snow. The trails were groomed this morning and not bad in the hardwoods but thin under the pines. Use the main entrance as there is not enough snow on the north end. Using your old skis might be a good idea

  • Here is the word from the field. The snow on Thursday was just enough to groom so the trail is now track-set. The tracks are a little thin under the pines as the branches haven't let as much snow reach the ground, but the trail in the hardwoods is quite nice. Enjoy it while you can, it is supposed to be warm on Monday.

  • I have the latest word from the trial grooming crew and it is "WE NEED SNOW!". They have flattened the three inches of snow that fell last night but they need another half a foot of snow before they can actually set some tracks. There are lots of rocks showing and some wet areas. So if you do go out there it would not be a good idea to take your best skis.

  • The trail grooming team have been trying to make the most of the little snow we have received so far and have managed to lay a bit of a base down on the trail. If we get a decent 15 cm (6 inches for you old-timers) of snow this week they should be able to track-set for this weekend. They may not be deep tracks but at least there will be tracks
